Southborough By-Election - Thursday 11th March

7.59.03am GMT Wed 10th Mar 2004

YOUR LIBERAL DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE IS DR ALAN BULLION

Alan has lived in the High Brooms area for over 20 years and works for a local publishing company as an agricultural journalist.

He went to Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys and is now a School Governor there. Subsequently, he gained an honours degree from the Open University and a PhD from the University of Southampton as a mature student.

Alan is especially interested in housing, the environment, education, planning and better public transport. He is particularly keen to see improved facilities and better access for the disabled. With many elderly people living in Southborough, he supports efforts to get improvements to the pavements in West Ward, several of which are in a disgraceful condition.

"As many of you know", writes Alan Bullion, "this by-election has been called due to the sad death of Councillor Walter Clary. I would like to pay a personal tribute to the work that Walter did for local people over the years. Walter was the model that all those who seek to serve their community should try to follow. He offered me help on several occasions and he will be much missed by us all. "If elected, I will do my best to work for the residents of Southborough West in the same way."
