"We are delighted to be able to tell you that, following many years of pressure, the Council has finally now re-surfaced Hillbert Road.

(We hope that the surface lasts longer than some other surfaces!!) But we are concerned that nothing has been done to reduce the speed and volume of traffic using the road as a "rat run".

We are also pleased to be able to tell you that we have persuaded the Highway Authority to include King George V Hill in the list of bids for next year. 'The surface has got progressively worse in recent years', comments Councillor David Neve, 'and I intend to pursue the bid throughout the various stages in the decision-making process'.

'Rochdale Road is another road that is high on our list for re-surfacing', adds Councillor Neve. 'As everyone recognises, there are budgetary constraints, but I can assure you that I will continue to fight for 'our rightful share of the pot' ".
