Liberal Democrats increase their share of the vote and their number of MEPs

In the European elections held on June 10th, Liberal Democrats Chris Huhne and Emma Nicholson were re-elected to the European Parliament. Both are extremely well regarded particularly for their respective hard work in finance and human rights issues.

The main results for the South-east region are as follows:

Conservatives - 776,370 - 35.2% - down 9%

Liberal Democrats - 338,342 - 15.3% - unchanged

Labour - 301,398 - 13.7% - down 6%

Greens - 173,351 - 7.9%

UKIP - 431,111 - 19.5%

Consequently, representing the South-east region in Europe will be the following:

Conservatives - 4 MEP's

Liberal Democrats - 2 MEP's

Labour - 1 MEP

Greens - 1 MEP

UKIP - 2 MEP's

The Liberal Democrats nationally, increased their share of the vote and increased their number of MEP's.
