PPC Laura Murphy supports the workers and volunteers of the Meningitis Trust and other charities

Laura Murphy, Liberal Democrat PPC for Tunbridge Wells met volunteers and workers at a recent Charity Bazaar in St Dunstans hall, Southborough. Nearly 20 different charities were represented and they used the occasion to raise awareness as well as funds for their cause.

Amongst others, Laura met with Meningitis Trust representative Anne Gaston, and commented, "It is thanks to the hard work and dedication of the volunteers like Anne that there is much more awareness about the symptoms and dangers of meningitis now than there was over 20 years ago when I was struck by bacterial meningitis. This year the Meningitis Trust is concentrating on raising awareness within black and minority ethnic groups in the country who believe that it does not affect them. This is not true as the illness can, and does, strike anywhere."

For more information about the symptoms of meningitis and the support the Meningitis Trust can offer check the website on www.meningitis-trust.org The Meningitis Trust also runs a 24 hour helpline on 0845 6000 800.
