The Liberal Democrats are up 3% on last month

A YouGov poll published recently in the Telegraph show that Prime Minister Gordon Brown's personal approval rating has slumped to a new low. The poll indicates that the Conservatives go into the new year with a 12-point lead over Labour. There are also signs of a Liberal Democrat revival following the election of Nick Clegg as leader last week.

The poll, conducted between Monday and Wednesday last week, found 16 per cent of people would vote Lib Dem, compared to 11 per cent in October. The results are Conservatives 43% (-2 on last month) Labour 31% (-1) Liberal Democrats 16% (+3).
