Councillor Hugh Patterson

Hugh hopes to be able to continue to serve the people of Capel

Hugh Patterson was first elected as Borough Councillor for Capel in 2000. In his first four year term he successfully campaigned to improve spending on flood defences in the parish and to extend the speed limits around Five Oak Green.

Since the election of 2004 Hugh has continued to work hard on behalf of local residents. He has: -

1. Fought to ensure affordable housing for parish residents is built in Five Oak Green (this was approved by the Borough Council Planning Committee in January).

2. Argued for measures to limit traffic using Whetsted Bridge (signage directing lorries to use an alternative route will be installed shortly).

3. Worked with other local residents to produce the Capel Parish Plan which was delivered to all residents in 2006.

4. Persuaded the County Council to build a footpath between Five Oak Green and Paddock Wood (the first stage of which should in place shortly).

5. Helped to persuade the authorities to rename the main road through Tudeley to avoid confusion for local residents and delivery companies (new addresses and signs were put in place in February).
